Chanel Beads

Chanel Beads is an experimental solo project by Shane Lavers, who hails from Minnesota. In 2016, he began making music under the name Chanel Beads. By 2022, he was living in New York, where he released tracks such as ‘Ef’ and ‘True Altruism’. These tracks captivated certain online circles with their unmistakably androgynous vocals, eerie artistic flourishes and poignant intimacy. In the years since his debut, the project has grown from house concerts and unauthorised gigs in abandoned railway tunnels to supporting Lorde on tour. Now his second album, Your Day Will Come, is here. Although it bears the same title as his breakthrough debut from 2024, this promises not to be a ‘part two’, a repeat or a re-release, but an entirely new body of work. Once again, Chanel Beads blurs the line between analogue and digital, with guitars reminiscent of medieval stringed instruments and mechanical drums that sound like hopping robots. One thing is certain: Chanel Beads cannot be pigeonholed into a single genre or confined to a single production method.
